1&1 gives Cloud Server customers in the UK choice of local hosting
Karlsruhe, 27.04.2016 – 1&1, the leading web hosting provider in Europe (www.1and1.co.uk), has announced further development of their cloud business providing Cloud Server customers in the UK with the option to choose a local data centre for their hosted services. No matter which data centre is chosen, 1&1 processes its customers’ hosted data in accordance to UK data protection law, in line with European data protection regulations.
As part of the new offering, UK customers are now able to choose between the state-of-the-art 1&1 Data Centres in the UK or the US when ordering a Cloud Server. Customers can rest assured that their web projects are hosted solely in 1&1’s data centres which adhere to the highest security standards. Once customers are logged in to their Cloud Panel, which enables them to setup additional virtual machines (VMs), they are given the option to deploy new virtual VMs in either the UK or the US. By using a cloning feature, customers can move existing VMs to another data centre. These location-based options are offered to customers free of charge.
“The new data centre in the UK enables regional customers to host their data according to local data regulations”, says Robert Hoffmann, CEO 1&1 Internet SE. “Moreover, customers based in the US, Germany, Mexico or Spain are able to bring their services closer to their UK customers which are delivered faster due to a shorter latency.”
