- Outstanding evaluation by analyst agency Cloud Spectator
1&1 today extends its 1&1 Cloud Server offering with four new pre-configured packages. Customers are now able to select a lower entry price and set of pre-configured settings for immediate use – with a choice between packages sized M to XXL, ranging in terms of RAM, vCores and storage space. The different versions make it easier for customers to find the ideal configuration for their specific use case – starting their internet projects with only one click while having the best possible performance quicker than ever before. 1&1 makes its product not only more capable, but also more affordable in terms of the pricing – the entry-level package starts at £9.99/month+VAT.
Robert Hoffmann, CEO 1&1 Internet Ltd, comments, “With these new packages, our Cloud Server even better addresses the needs of SMBs to have an easy and simple cloud solution with a great performance at the same time. Besides our very extensive feature set we can now also offer an even lower entry-price“.
The new packages at a glance
The new Cloud Server packages are available in four different sizes ranging from M to XXL. Alternatively, the existing option to configure a cloud server flexibly in any combination of vCore, RAM and SSD can also be used.
As the most affordable product in its category, the 1&1 Cloud Server delivers enterprise functionalities like SSD storage-arrays and storage area networks (SAN) by default for higher performance and reliability, an API interface, KVM access via desktop and an easy user administration with the 1&1 Cloud Panel. Additionally, clients can benefit from all 1&1 Cloud Server features without any additional contract term: unlimited traffic, flexible firewall rules, an external firewall for additional security settings, load balancer, private networks and IPs as well as 24/7 support are included free of cost. Since its launch in January, the 1&1 Cloud Server family has been continuously improved and updated with several functionalities, for example, customers can profit from various back-up options, interactive invoicing, a monitoring tool and many more.
Modifying a package with more storage space, RAM and vCPU is possible immediately; also a switch to the flexible version can be realized anytime. Use cases for the new configurations range from test use and small projects (M) over to small and mid-sized homepages (L) to online shops and database applications (XL) and extensive and challenging projects (XXL). The FLEX version is ideal for SMBs who need a very flexible and scalable cloud environment for their projects.

Positive market perceptions
Cloud Spectator, a global analyst agency headquartered in the U.S. and specialised in key Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) benchmarks including performance and pricing, recently reviewed the 1&1 Cloud Server. In the benchmark, the analysts compared the 1&1 Cloud Server with solutions of four other market players in terms of virtual machine (VM) performance – specifically raw performance and price-performance value of several VMs of varying sizes. The findings show that the 1&1 Cloud Server provides a superior level of performance, price-indexed performance and price-performance value throughout the course of the study. The 1&1 Cloud Server offers the highest performance on vCPU and storage tests and overall the most stable performance over the test period.
“1&1 approached us to help evaluate their new 1&1 Cloud Server as it goes to market”, said Danny Gee, Senior Analyst at Cloud Spectator. “We found the new offering to be very competitive from both a performance and price-performance standpoint. 1&1 was able to consistently provide higher CPU and disk speeds for the server configurations we tested. 1&1 delivers high-performance and is capable of competing with the major players worldwide”.
Robert Hoffmann adds: “The results of the Cloud Spectator survey underline the feedback we continue to receive from our customers. It is highly satisfying to now have this re-confirmed from a third-party benchmark. We are elated about the result highlighting the great quality of our product and confirming the best-in-class performance 1&1 delivers with its Cloud Server.”
A blogpost introducing the study from Cloud Spectator is available here – the full report will be launched later in June.
