1&1 Cloud Server takes home the best price/performance ratio result in Cloud Spectator Benchmark once again
For the second year in a row, the American analysts from Cloud Spectator ranked 1&1 Cloud Server as the number one cloud solution, in their recent “Top 10 IaaS Providers Benchmark 2017” for North America. Just like last year, the analysts were impressed by all aspects of 1&1’s cloud services, recognising the outstanding price/performance ratio of our products. The survey compared 1&1 (www.1and1.co.uk) cloud products to the likes of similar cloud service vendors, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google, Rackspace and OVH. All the companies surveyed were required to have at least one data centre within North America, even if their headquarters were not located within the US.
The results at a glance
In the latest Cloud Spectator Benchmark, 1&1 achieved the highest CloudSpecs Score™, a figure implemented by Cloud Spectator, which shows the price/performance ratio in order to make the tested CSPs more comparable. The score, which is awarded out of 100, is calculated based on a strong VM performance, but also takes into account the price of the various products. The score is based on a variety of tests carried out over vCPU Value, Memory Value and Block Storage Value – the final CloudSpecs Score™ arises out of the average from these three categories.
Cloud Spectator tested the VMs of the selected vendors in four different sizes ranging from 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB Disk to 16 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 500 GB. Three VMs were operated per unit, meaning that a total of 12 VMs ran for a period of 24 hours, continuously pinged for receiving measurement results.
“We try to be as thorough as possible to accurately represent each provider in whichever workloads are tested. This report is based on a study that collected over 1.5 million data points. Accounts were set up anonymously to eliminate the possibility of bias and three machines of each type were tested to increase the chance of testing different physical hosts. Cloud Spectator’s methodology is unique in that we built our test suite to be iterative to collect not only data on performance level, but also obtain a thorough reading on the stability of each environment,” stated Kenny Li, CEO of Cloud Spectator.
“That we won the recent Cloud Spectator benchmark in the US for the second time in a row proves that our cloud product portfolio is continuing to move in the right direction,” says Robert Hoffmann, CEO 1&1 Internet SE. “We were also very excited and proud of the additional award we received for the best price/performance ratio underlining our aim to provide our customers with the best products at the most affordable price.”
