Our team of highly motivated infrastructure operations experts is looking for more teammates. As a site reliability engineer you will develop and operate together with system administrators and network engineers our Infrastructure for DNS, DHCP, NTP and IP Management. Our responsibilities begin with the design of a service and we ensure that our operational requirements will make it to the metal together with the product requirements.In a culture which places great value on creative ideas, agile working methods, initiative, and participation you can expect the following tasks:

Tasks

  • Provision, operate and migrate distributed, high available Services on Linux.
  • Improve and develop the full Stack from Hardware over OS to the Application including configuration management and monitoring.
  • Development and adjustment of DIM (github.com/1and1/dim), monzero (github.com/1and1/monzero) and other open source projects.
  • Support our system administrators to automate operational tasks and rollouts.
  • Provide interfaces for integration in our hosting products for other teams.
  • Administration and troubleshooting of our high-available and complex infrastructure including participation in an on-call service rotation.
  • Support company goals through efficient operating architecture, active lifecycle management and lean processes in an agile DevOps environment.
  • Operate certified, security relevant Infrastructure.

Qualifications

You have studied computer science or have completed comparable education. You have a keen interest in infrastructure topics, good network knowledge, and have the following qualifications: 

  • 5y+ hands on experience with administration of complex services on Linux (no specific Distribution).
  • Infrastructure as code and automation are important parts of your own way of working.
  • Several years of experience in system near development of highly available software artifacts, written in programming or scripting languages: Go, Python, Bash, Java.
  • Practical experience of operating DNS (PowerDNS, PowerDNS Recursor, dnsdist), NTP (e.g. ntpd, chrony, Meinberg), DHCP and IP-Management.
  • Observability Stacks (e.g. collectd/telegraf, metrictank, influx, Grafana) to analyze problems and plan.
  • Additional experience about BGP, anycast routing as well as the basic understanding of network protocols on linux systems are not foreign to you.
  • Like us, you are a fan of Open Source, especially Linux.
  • The ability to communicate with an international team fluently in English, German is a benefit.
