Your Tasks

Would you like to use your Java coding skills to make one of the largest German news portals with over 18 million users more attractive to young people? Furthermore it is also important to you that your work has a real impact and that you develop a product that really has added value for young people? Then we are looking for you! Become part of the WEB.DE and GMX team and help us shape a personalised news future using AI.

  • You develop new features and services based on current Java 21 technologies for our news portal and internal microservices.
  • You optimize together with your team quality, performance and maintainability of our news portal.
  • You test your code supported by our continuous integration and delivery setup with high degree of automation and by this receive quick feedback on whether your code lives up to its promises or breaks the pipeline.
  • You pick up current trends and technologies and share your knowledge with your colleagues in regular brown bag sessions or slack days.

We Appreciate

Do you have a technical degree such as computer science or a comparable qualification? Would you like to become part of an agile web development team and develop new features for our news portal and our internal microservices using AI, for example, as a Java developer? Are you passionate about software development and code quality? You are a real team player and your work attitude is ‘hands-on’? Do you see yourself described in the points below? Then we look forward to receiving your application.

  • You have knowledge of Java web technologies and corresponding frameworks (Freemarker, Servlet API, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, ElasticSearch, Solr, Maven) as well as basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
  • You have first work experience with Linux as development and server environment for a Tomcat/Apache stack.
  • You like to to dive into new topics, e.g. in Data Science, AI, Security or DevOps.
  • Developing your skills and a good team spirit are important for you.
